Hot Shot by Susan E. Phillips - review

This is one of two books I've managed to read during my vacation. Before anything let me say that I am a HUGE SEP fan and I highly respect her as a person as well as her work. So here we go.
The blurb:

SHE JUMPED ON THE BACK OF A BAD BOY'S HARLEY ANDFOLLOWED HIS RENEGADE DREAM....In a single, impulsive act, Susannah Faulconer, the daughter of one of the country's most powerful industrialists, follows her heart and finds herself severed from her family and everything familiar. As a cool San Francisco socialite, she'd known exactly how to behave, but now she's a lone woman in a world of men...and there's no etiquette book in the world that can teach her how to survive. The men are rebels, determined to take on corporate America with daring and vision, and they aren't going to let her play by good girls' rules. There's Sam, the charismatic visionary, on a rocket-driven ride to glory. And Mitch, the troubled corporate genius with no time for a rich socialite, no matter how beautiful. Together, they will force Susannah into the biggest challenge of her life as she tests her courage -- and her love -- in a bold experiment that will change them all forever. Come share a glorious, heart-stopping love story, and meet the unforgettable woman called Hot Shot as she discovers a passion so rich, so tender, that she will be utterly and forever transformed.

This is one of the first books that Susan E. Phillips wrote but the last one I've read. I don't know how this happened. But finally I found out about it and order it immediately. I was so happy to find a "new" book by SEP because she writes a new book every two-three years. I loved all her previous novels (some more some less) and the subject of this one was very close to me - computers! Some of you now that I'm actually computer designer who later decided to become graphic designer (don't even ask) and this looked like a perfect match - love story that involves one of my favourite things - computers.
I was sadly disappointed. This book didn't evoke any emotions in me, actually around page 100 I almost quit reading it. Since this was SEP I thought this has to get better so I stick to it. The whole book feels like a lecture about invention of the computers and love story is just there to sell the book.
The main characters weren't interesting and they just couldn't make me care for them. The story is very slow with lot of unnecessary details and scenes. It just wasn't Susan Elizabeth Phillips I knew and loveed to read.
I'm sorry I had to write this kind of review and it took me long to do it but I think I'm being fair. I'm one of her biggest fans and I adore most of her books and love the rest, but this one just didn't click.
I give it three feathers because I'm sure a lot of time was invested in research but I think this was a wrong way to represent it to the public.

Friendship

I've made a couple of great friends since I've started this blog. I thank you all for visiting my blog and reading all those stuff that probably aren’t so interesting :) I've started this blog thinking that no one will ever read it. I was wrong and I'm glad about it.
One of these special friends is Cecile from All I Want And More. She's very kind and this time she's awarded me with two great blog awards

The rules: This award was started by Bookin With BINGO and here are the rules:This "B-I-N-G-O" BEAUTIFUL BLOG AWARD means that this blog is...B: Beautiful, I: Informative, N: Neighborly - Host @ Angel on a Move, G: Gorgeous, O: Outstanding.
I got it because my blog (according to Cecile) is Neighborly :)

Being a recipient of this award affirms that this blog invests and believes in the Proximity – nearness in space, time and relationships.I hereby nominate the following blogs to receive this great award and a further way for me to reiterate that these blogs are exceedingly charming, blogging friends who aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award.

Thanks Cecile!!! You are one of the kind :)
It's almost midnight here, so please forgive me for not following the rules of the awards right now, but I just have to go to bed because of my early start tomorrow.
In the time before this blog I never believed in Internet friendships but I’ve changed my mind since then. I value my on-line friends very much, and they are a valuable part of my world.
So, if you are up to it, tell me about your experiences with on-line friendship? What you think of them, are they just virtual acquaintances or something entirely different? How many (if any) you've met in person?
Have a great evening.

I'm back

I finally arrived home last night. I had a great three-week vacation. First week I spent with my sister. The weather was so-so and we couldn't spend our days at the beach as we planned. Instead we went shopping, sightseeing and to the cinema. I saw a new Harry Potter movie - I loved it.
The second week I went to this beautiful Croatian island with my boyfriend. We had a great time. We were swimming all day long and went to the rock-concerts around the island in the evenings.
The last week I spent in this tiny village on the seaside with my mother, sister and nephew. We had a great time.
My pregnant sister, me and my nephew who doesn't have time to sit still while we take his picture :)

All this left me with only 2 books (out of 7 planned) read. They were pretty good and I'll do a review these days.
It's good to be back. I missed all of you fellow bloggers and your fabulous blogs!!!
I have to get serious now. I have applications for my MBA to write, an international fair to visit (for five days), a evening dress to buy (for my cousin's wedding) and minor operation to endure plus a concert to go to - The Cult big tour. All this happens in September and just writing this makes me nervous - lol.
I'll post some more pictures later when I have time to download them.
So, please, tell me how was your summer (doesn't this question remind you of those first days of school when you had to write a paper on this subject :)?)?
Have a great week.

Just a quick one

Hi all! If there's anyone reading anymore. I've been bad, bad. Well actually not as bad as unlucky :)
My Internet connection crashed on August the 1st and I couldn't let you know that I'll be away for two maybe even three weeks. I went on a vacation to an isolated place without any kind of Internet connection. I'm back in the modern world for a few days and then for the rest of my vacation I'll be out of the www.
I'm so sorry I'm not able to post and visit all your wonderful blogs :(
I'm leaving now with one picture from the place I'm currently staying at.
